Just as I am steeling myself to do the rewrite for the third edition, and feeling rather despondent about it too, in comes this lovely email. A nice counterpoint to some of the “all lawyers are anti-fathers” rot I’ve been receiving on twitter lately.
I just wanted to say a big thank you on writing your book. My partner and I went through a year of hell trying to gain custody of his children due to abusive circumstances to which was a success thanks to the help of your book. His ex had a barrister and he did not due to money barriers so thank you it was an absolute guiding light.
Thank you again it’s a breath of fresh air to see people like yourself in a professional role helping and guiding LIP’s going beyond the call of duty 🙂
Regards,
We don’t get thank-yous in this job very often, so the ones we do get go a long way…
Probably more important now than ever… with legal aid eviscerated and more and more litigants in person, books like yours should arguably be required reading before entering a family law court dispute, or sent out to parties as part of the issue fee.
I count my lucky stars that as a local authority lawyer, in almost every case I am instructed to issue the other side are represented.
Best of luck writing the third edition, I have no doubt it will be a strong seller.
Thanks Andy. 🙂
